College Basketball Betting - (1) Tennessee Vols at (18) Vanderbilt Commodores 9:00 PM ET

The Tennessee Volunteers first test as the nation's #1 team comes against a team they've collected cash against in eight of the last 10 meetings.

Chris Lofton of TennesseeTennessee, winners of seven of their last nine spreads this season, has had their way with the Vanderbilt Commodores. They look to continue their winning ways tonight in Nashville.

Tennessee has climbed to the top of the college basketball world for the first time in school history, yet as great as this is for fans of Rocky Top, the real thrill would be winning the SEC for the first time in over four decades.

"The response has been overwhelming here," Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl said Monday. "The game Saturday, there'll always be a lot of talk of where were you when they beat Memphis to become No. 1?

It was that kind of event so it will have some staying power, but for us there will be little staying power because we have to go play at Vanderbilt on Tuesday where they have won 17 straight games".

After a sluggish January, in which Vanderbilt lost four of five SEC contests, they've come back with a vengeance and stormed to six consecutive wins in February. For the Commodores, playing the number one team adds to the significance of the rivalry.

Vandy is a game behind Kentucky in the SEC East and wants to pass the Wildcats to earn the second spot in the SEC Tournament, which carries a first round bye.

With that in mind, coach Kevin Stallings has that element for motivation, along with 20-point whipping they suffered in Knoxville and the opportunity to knock off the number one team in the country.

This Vanderbilt team already has the second most wins during the regular season in school history and if they win three of last fours games, they become the all-time leader. The 'Dores are 11-2 with three or more days between games, with unimpressive 4-9 ATS mark.

Tennessee won the rebounding and turnover battle in last meeting and held the normally hot-shooting Commodores to three for 21 shooting from beyond the arc.

The Vols are 9-4-1 ATS in last 13 road encounters and will have to contain Shan Foster and Alex Gordon again.

Vanderbilt will have to match the intensity of Pearl's club, who has so many ways to beat you. Like all exceptional teams, it's never one player who beats you, thus whether it is Chris Lofton, JuJuan Smith or J.P. Prince coming off the bench, they continue to find ways to win.

Vandy is only 2-9 ATS at home facing teams with winning home records and is 0-5 against the spread taking on squads with 60 percent or higher winning percentage.

Vanderbilt is a 2 point home underdog at sportsbook.com and is 1-6 ATS in last seven meetings with Tennessee. The home team is 4-1 against the spread in most recent meetings.

ESPN will have this part of Super Tuesday starting at 9 pm ET.
