CBB Texas at Kansas State

February 25, 2008

College Basketball - (7) Texas Longhorns at (24) Kansas State Wildcats 9:00 PM EST

Kansas St. is currently a 3-point home favorite with a game total of 160 at sportsbook.com and other online sportsbooks.

D.J. Augustin of TexasTexas Longhorn backers that stuck with the team through a mid-season slump are finally being rewarded for their patience.

Entering the weekend, the Longhorns had been to the pay window five straight times, ending a skid where they covered the spread only twice in a nine-game span.

Texas looks to continue their profitable ways at Kansas State on ESPN Monday night. Tip-off is set for 9 pm ET.

The Longhorns enter Monday's game off a Saturday matchup with Oklahoma, a team they defeated by 10 points in a game earlier this month.

This is the first and only meeting between Texas and Kansas State this season and it'll feature plenty of fireworks as the two top scorers in the conference go head-to-head.

With such high-powered offenses, you can expect a high total for this matchup. Texas went Over in four of their last six while the Wildcats hit the Over in seven of the last eight.

D.J. Augustin leads the Longhorns' offense with 19.2 points per game to sit second in Big 12 scoring. He's far from the lone contributor on the Texas offense though.

The Longhorns average 77.1 points per game and almost 80% of the offense comes from Augustin and teammates A.J. Abrams, Damion James and Connor Atchley. All are scoring at least 10 points per game.

Texas heads into Monday's game having covered their last two road games, bumping their record to 4-4 ATS on the road. They will need another solid effort against the Big 12's leading scorer, Michael Beasley.

Home is where the profits have been for Beasley and the Kansas State Wildcats. Heading into a weekend matchup at Baylor, Kansas State had lost three-straight spreads on the road.

They'll be glad to be home on Monday, hosting the Longhorns on a home court where they've covered seven straight times and are 8-1 ATS this season. In their most recent home effort, the Wildcats blew out Missouri 100-63 and 9 -point favorites.

The energy inside Bramlage Coliseum fuels the Kansas State players and they've scored at least 82 points in four of the last five home games. For the season, the Wildcats rank 20th in the NCAA, scoring 80.1 points a game.

Averaging 25.4 points per game, Beasley contributes a huge chunk of those points but another pair of freshmen, Bill Walker and Jacob Pullen, also score in double digits for the Wildcats.
