CFB West Virginia at South Florida

September 28, 2007

College Football - (5) West Virginia Mountaineers at (18) South Florida Bulls 8:00 PM EST

The Mountaineers are currently a 7-point road favorite, with the game total set at a lofty 56 at the majority of online sportsbooks.

South Florida (3-0) opens Big East Conference play on Friday night against offensive powerhouse West Virginia (4-0).

South Florida has covered each of their last six home games and five of their last six games versus a team with a winning record.

Steve Slaton, RB for WVUWest Virginia has won 12 of the last 13 away games and 7-1 ATS. The Mountaineers have a potent offense that averages 525.0 yards per game and 47.3 points per game, but that number drops to 39.5 on the road.

South Florida will try to combat West Virginia's lethal rushing attack with a nasty rush defense that surrenders just 79 rushing yards per game.

Just last season, WVU could only manage 132 rushing yards against S. Florida in a 24-19 upset. With all of this in mind, it is surprising that only 23% of the early bettors are backing S. Florida (+7) at sportsbook.com.

5th ranked West Virginia is coming off an impressive 48-7 home victory against East Carolina last week as a 24-point favorite. Quarterback Pat White completing 18-of-20 passes and added four touchdowns while RB Steve Slaton rushed for 110 yards as the Mountaineers had 600 yards of total offense.
