College Football Preview - Georgia Bulldogs at Alabama Crimson Tide 7:45 PM EST
Alabama is currently a 3.5-point favorite with a total of 46.5 at sportsbook.com for this matchup.
Alabama is sitting at 3-0 this year and looking to stay unbeaten in an inter-divisional SC game vs. Georgia today.
With only two meetings in the last decade, the most recent in '03, this will be a rare matchup. Georgia won both of those games, SU & ATS.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 45-16 win over Western Carolina, but are hitting the road for the first time in '07, and hoping to even their SEC mark at 1-1. They are on a skid of 2-6 ATS in league play but are 5-0-1 ATS in L6 as a road underdog.
Georgia rebounded off disappointing loss to South Carolina, taking care of business against Western Carolina last weekend. Matthew Stafford showed improvement after being constantly under fire against the Gamecocks.
The young Georgia offensive line will have to ready themselves for a stout Alabama defense that can get after the passer. Mark Richt has had the golden touch for supporters with 22-4 and 18-8 ATS record on the road at Georgia.
Nick Saban is already putting his stamp on this Crimson Tide team, with a solid running game and efficient passing from John Parker Wilson. The defense though not flashy, does a great job in containing the opposing team, limiting big plays.
Two very sharp coaches will try to out-gameplan one another. The Bulldogs will attempt to set-up short passing game to protect Stafford, with the intent to have the running game in gear later in the half.
Georgia's defense has not been overwhelming against the run and Saban will test them with freshman Terry Grant. This sets up possibility to take deep shots with receiver DJ Hall once the Tide get rolling on the ground.
Bama is 1-3 against the number playing Georgia.
