NBA Basketball - Orlando Magic at Detroit Pistons (-5Ĺ, 184) 8:00 PM ET
While Detroit concerns itself with being the top seed, they continue to be just a horrible bet at home. The Pistons have failed to cover the spread in there last four home games, bringing their record to disastrous 14-24 36.8% (at least for bettors backing them).
According to team websites, coach Flip Saunders and GM Joe Dumars have been discussing how to keep the team sharp, while giving them rest before the playoffs begin. If this information is for public consumption, then the players are aware themselves, making any situation about wagering for or against the Pistons trickier.
Coach Saunders said what could be prophetic words "You don't want to be playing your best basketball right now," Saunders said. "You want to be playing it in two weeks."
Detroit does have incentive for selfish reasons in this game, taking the big picture view point. In the last fifteen match-ups between the Pistons and Orlando, the club from the Motor City is 12-3 and 9-5-1 ATS, including 3-0 straight up and against the spread this season. Keeping Orlando locked in the 8th position is real benefit for Detroit come playoff time.
After just dismal play for months, the Magic are at least playing with more fire and determination and the offense has picked up. Orlando is 5-3 in last eight contests, this has helped them surpass Indiana and they have now shot 57.6 percent on average in their last three games, easily the Magicís best streak of the season.
Additionally, for the first time all year they have scored 100 or more points in four consecutive games. Those contemplating wagering this contest need to consider whatever the outcome, be it a win or loss, the Magic have matched it against the spread sixteen straight games.
This time of year NBA lines come out later due to uncertainty about who is playing in different contests and sportsbook.com will release the side and total as soon as this information is available.
Detroit may not be the safest bet at home, still overall they are rolling with 13-5 ATS record in last eighteen plays. The Pistons are also hitting on all cylinders with a dayís rest, posting 8-2 ATS mark.
Brian Hillís club is just 4-12 ATS in most recent road ventures and 1-5 off a win by ten or more points. Orlando has been down right putrid off a win with 2-9 ATS record.
