NBA Basketball - Phoenix Suns (-5) at Cleveland Cavaliers 1:00 PM EST
The NBA board on Sunday only boasts six games, but three of those make for real good matchups. In fact, the ABC afternoon doubleheader features four teams that are all considered finals contenders. In the opening game at 1:00 PM ET, the Cavaliers play host to the red-hot Phoenix Suns, looking to keep pace with the Pistons in the Central Division.
Phoenix is winning games at a near NBA record pace. It’s difficult to believe that this club was once struggling to the tune of a 1-4 start. Since that however, the Suns have been unstoppable, covering the spread nearly 70% of the time while scoring just shy of 112 PPG!
This will be the second time in the 2006-07 season that they square off with LeBron & the Cavaliers, as in the first meeting on January 11th, Phoenix won 109-90 at home, holding the visitors to just 37.9% field goal shooting.
Cleveland has struggled over the past 2-1/2 weeks since winning eight of its prior nine games. The Cavs are still in the thick of things though, both in the race for the Central Division title as well as the top playoff spot in the East. They’ll have to start playing better against the conference rivals though as they were just 8-18 ATS vs. the East heading into Friday’s game with Philadelphia. Against the West though, Cleveland is 9-6 SU & 8-7 ATS, providing hope for a potential win Sunday vs. the league’s hottest team.
Though unlikely, there is an outside chance that Cleveland could be a home favorite. Watch the live odds page at sportsbook.com closely because if that is the case, the Cavaliers might have a good shot. Phoenix is 0-4 SU & 1-3 ATS as a road dog this year, but 15-1 as a road favorite before Friday’s game with Milwaukee.
