NBA Basketball - Philadelphia Sixers at Miami Heat (-9½, 181) 7:30 PM EST
The world churns on in the NBA, and with the bulk of the basketball community throwing its focus to the excitement offered by the Elite 8 games in college roundball, the professionals are pushing towards the playoffs and handicappers have in front of them another day of wagering opportunities.
On Saturday, NBA TV offers up a primetime showdown between Philadelphia and Miami. This is one of a short board of four games on the NBA betting card for Saturday.
Miami has gotten hot, obviously at the right time, as even without Dwyane Wade it has managed to creep to within a game of the Wizards for the top spot in the Southeast Division.
Tonight the Heat will return home after a two-game road trip looking to avenge a 14-point defeat suffered six days ago to Orlando in front of the home folks. Prior to that game, they had won 14 straight at home and were 12-2 ATS in the process. Surprisingly, Miami is just 7-6 SU & ATS vs. teams from the Atlantic, a division widely regarded as the worst in the NBA.
Philadelphia had won seven games in a row at one point earlier this month but has cooled off dramatically since, scoring less than 85 PPG in recent games.
The 76ers have been one of the league's worst road teams in 2006-07, going just 9-25. They have also struggled in back-to-back games, going 4-13 in the second contest. However, their ATS mark in that scenario is 10-6-1, and considering the probability of them being a sizeable underdog tonight, Philly could make for a nice wager here. For the record, the Sixers played at home vs. Charlotte last night.
The Sixers and Heat have played three times this year with the host club having swept the board. In two of the previous games, Philly was the benefactor in two of those. Stay on top of all today's NBA action with sportsbook.com.
