| College Football: Florida (4) vs. Arkansas (8)
The Florida Gators' national championships hopes aren't completely dead yet, but no matter what happens elsewhere Saturday they'll need to get past the Arkansas Razorbacks in the SEC Championship game to keep those hopes alive.
The Gators are coming off an 11-1 season that they closed out with a 21-14 win over Florida State last week. Quarterback Chris Leak tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to secure the win, and he now has 21 TDs and 11 interceptions on the season. Leak will have to be solid on Saturday, as the Gators will be dealing with some injuries to key players. Leading running back DeShawn Wynn is doubtful for Saturday's game due to a shoulder injury he suffered last week. Freshman wideout Percy Harvin has a better prognosis than Wynn, and is expected to play despite suffering a neck injury last week. Harvin had a 41-yard touchdown run in last week's win.
The Razorbacks saw their slim national championship hopes go up in smoke last week after a 31-26 loss to LSU. The loss was Arkansas' first since their opening-week loss to USC and it snapped their 10-game winning streak. The Razorbacks stuck to their usual game plan in the loss with another fine rushing performance. Darren McFadden rushed for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Felix Jones rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown. McFadden has tallied 1485 rushing yards on the season with 14 touchdowns, while Jones is only 39 yards from the 1000-yard mark at 961 rushing yards. The Gators are a 2.5 favorite at BetGameDay. |
