NFL Football: Seattle (+4) at Denver Sunday 8:15 pm EST
By Michael Licalsi
Seattle (7-4) has quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and running back Shaun Alexander back and healthy, and they are ready to make a run at the NFC conference championship. While Hasselbeck did struggle in the first half of their Green Bay game last Monday Night, I look for a much more consistent effort from him this week.
The Seahawks are 4-0 this season when both Hasselbeck and Alexander are playing, and these two are getting back their champion stride.
Denver (7-4) has replaced quarterback Jake Plummer with rookie Jay Cutler. That is a strange move for a team that some think is a Super Bowl contender.
The Broncos are coming in at 1-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last five games as favorites. They are also 1-4 ATS overall in their last five games.
The early spread for this game was Denver -3.5, but has moved up to four. That is very surprising to me, as I thought the line was going to move the other way.
In this game, I see the two stars of Seattle re-establishing themselves as a dominate force. I don't care who you are playing and where the game is, when your quarterback (Hasselbeck) can turn the ball over four times and you still get a 10 point victory (against Green Bay), that says a lot.
In summary, Seattle hasn't won in Denver in a long time, but I'm looking for that streak to come to an end tomorrow.
Pick: Seattle
