VIP.com has updated its college basketball title odds. There are some familiar names at the top of this list starting with the Florida Gators. However, March Madness seems to get crazier every year, and there will likely be a surprising entry in the Final Four.
1) Florida Gators, 17-2 (11:2)
Back to back national championships for Florida are a distinct possibility.
2) North Carolina Tar Heels, 17-2 (13:2)
Three starting freshmen make sophomore, Tyler Hansbrough look old.
3) Ohio State Buckeyes, 16-3 (13:2)
Greg Oden’s offense is finally coming around. That is scary for opponents.
4) UCLA Bruins, 17-1 (15:2)
The Bruins forte is toughness and defense, not normally Pac-10 traits.
5) Wisconsin Badgers, 19-1 (8:1)
The Badgers may lack elite talent, but they make up for it with team play.
6) Kansas Jayhawks, 16-3 (14:1)
The Jayhawks last national title came in 1988. This team is overdue.
7) Pittsburgh Panthers, 17-3 (15:1)
Pittsburgh is still dominant at home even after their loss to Marquette.
8) Texas A&M Aggies, 16-2 (18:1)
This is the best team in the country that most people know nothing about.
9) Oregon Ducks, 18-1 (18:1)
Wins over UCLA and Arizona prove that the Ducks are definitely for real.
10) Arizona Wildcats, 13-5 (20:1)
One of the best starting fives in the land, but the bench is suspect.
11) Air Force Falcons, 19-2 (25:1)
Mountain West Conference school doesn’t get a lot of respect nationally.
12) LSU Tigers, 13-5 (25:1)
2006 Final Four participant is still dangerous this year.
13) Alabama Crimson Tide, 15-4 (30:1)
A traditional football powerhouse has made itself a name in basketball.
14) Marquette Golden Eagles, 17-4 (30:1)
Marquette has the best backcourt in the Big East and maybe the nation.
15) Clemson Tigers, 18-2 (35:1)
Clemson has hit a little bump in the road after their 17-0 start.
16) Oklahoma State Cowboys, 17-3 (35:1)
JamesOn Curry is on the “all name” team, but he can play as well.
Note: There are several teams listed at 40:1 including the Duke Blue Devils. Duke (16-3) doesn’t have the dominant roster of prior years, but there is still plenty of talent around. After all, they are Duke!
