August 5, CFL Plays 6-4
Friday: 3* Edmonton Eskimos/BC Lions Game Total OVER 58.5 -110
I was thinking 60 wasn't too bad a number here on the fast turf... Edmonton will be without Ed Hervey this week which is a slight blow to their offense but when you consider Mitchell, Gaylor and Tucker there's no lack of depth there. Ricky Ray is bursting with confidence after throwing 5 TDs last week in a 36-30 win over the Ticats. Lions got in a shootout themselves winning 40-27 against Calgary. Both these offenses in Calgary and Hamilton are hurting this year and they both still manage to put up 30 points on each of these defenses. Lions are weak on defense and have been for a few years now. Both these offenses go on passing almost exclusively and this leads to fast pace up and down games. I will say Edmonton's defense is very stiff but against a veteran like Dave Dickenson (July's player of the month) can slash it with his crew of WR including the explosive Geroy Simon. I like this game to be very high scoring on paper and should be on the scoreboard by games end. Lions are undefeated at 5-0 and Edmonton are at 5-1, this is a race for the top of the Western division and this game should prove to be a battle, be it by offense or defense (likely to be more offensive). Considering the Lions can't stop anybody I'll say the score should at least hit the 60s here. They've been covering 60+ against weaker offenses and stronger defenses so why not.
