David Nalbandian -330 over Karol Beck (Montreal)
Nalbandian wasted Chela in the first set, a guy who is playing extremely well and now faces a 50/50 guy, you don't know who is gonna show up. One thing is for sure, Beck hasn't been able to beat Robbie Ginepri this summer, losing both to him in straights. Personally I'd take David over Robbie on any surface. Nalbandian has been playing better lately and might be starting to regain some of his swagger. I think he can be a threat past this round as well. He's a good dog to win this tournament. David handles Karol's serve here and I think Karol gets frustrated and he will make errors as he has been all year. Beck 9-11 YTD on hard, 13-14 last year and 6-13 the year prior to that. Dunno when he's going to improve drastically but I hope it's not today
Andrei Pavel -200 over Mariano Puerta (Montreal)
Why not, getting a -200 now against Puerta and Pavel is a trusty hardcourt player (usually). Pavel hasn't made a move in a tournament in a while... I think Puerta is in over his head again here but we'll see what happens. Pavel was 27-12 last year on this surface so you can plainly see he's capable of playing a solid game on hardcourt. He was also 19-10 in 2001. Puerta as I mentioned last round is now 2-7 since 2001, 9 matches in total. His suspension helps that stat but it's apparent his game is built for clay. I'll hope Pavel wins here, I do like him to win as I did Horna. Maybe Pavel a little better, he's a more solid hardcourt player than Horna. The stats say so anyway.
GL!
