Philadelphia Eagles starting RB Brian Westbrook (flu) may be held out of tonight's preseason contest against the Steelers. OLT Tra Thomas (blood clot in leg) will not play tonight. Rookie S Sean Considine (shoulder), DE Jamaal Green (foot), RB Correll Buckhalter (knee), C Jamaal Jackson (triceps), DT Sam Rayburn (elbow) and CB Matt Ware (toe/knee) did not make the trip to Pittsburgh. They join the other five players - Thomas, DE Jerome McDougle, P Dirk Johnson, LB Greg Richmond and FS/KR J.R. Reed - on the injury list
Philadelphia Eagles third-year WR Greg Lewis and rookie WR Reggie Brown will start tonight against the Steelers. WR Billy McMullen, a disappointment his first two years, will be the No. 3 receiver along with WR Justin Jenkins, who spent last season on the practice squad. McMullen, a third-round pick from Virginia in 2003, had a nice camp. But there is a difference between camp and game situations. And that's what the coaches want to see. McMullen and Jenkins went into the offseason battling for the fifth and final receiver spot, but with WR Todd Pinkston out for the year with a ruptured Achilles' tendon and WR Terrell Owens on a one-week "dismissal" from the team, those plans have changed. |
