Atlanta Journal Constitution reports Falcons FS Bryan Scott, coming off shoulder surgery, has gone through just about every drill except those involving contact. He was cleared to hit a few weeks ago but he's been held out of preseason games. He will start alongside S Keion Carpenter against the Tennessee Titans at the Georgia Dome in the Falcons' third preseason exhibition. S Kevin McCadam and S Ronnie Heard have started in his place until now. HC Jim Mora said the coaching staff will be monitoring Scott closely because they want him to get extended repetitions but they don't want him to abuse his shoulder. CB DeAngelo Hall, who missed practice earlier this week after an MRI exam detected a bruised left hip, will play against the Titans. Barring a re-aggravation of the injury, Hall, who has practiced the past two days, will stay on the field as long as Tennessee keeps its starting wide receivers in the game, Mora said. DE Khaleed Vaughn returns to action after missing last week's 16-3 victory over Baltimore with turf toe, but he will play behind DE Gabe Nyenhuis, a free agent that Mora said has capitalized on his opportunity to play. Those who are not expected to play Friday night against the Titans are LB Keith Brooking (thigh), LB Ed Hartwell (knee), DE Brady Smith (neck), DE Patrick Kerney (groin), CB Christian Morton (heel) and first-round draft pick WR Roddy White (mild high-ankle sprain). White has shed the walking boot he's been wearing since his ankle injury that he sustained after catching a pass in the fourth quarter of last week's game against Baltimore. White is now wearing an ankle support. White walked around practice Thursday with a slight limp but went through extensive stretching exercises pain free, he said. It is too soon to determine whether he will do any running in the near future or be ready to play against Jacksonville, he said. |
