Westie, I am just north of Lake Ponchatrain and took water in my home and did not have flood insurance. I learned a valuble lesson (don't trust old mother nature). Before I purchased the property, I went around and talked to several people that lived here and one gentleman was 80 years old and he told me that he lived in this area for the entire 80 years and never saw any flooding. I am just happen that I left and was safe. Thanks for asking.
