Tuesday (Late):
4* Taylor Dent -175 over Dmitry Tursunov (Tokyo)
Dent plays well in Asia, this is my first impression of the match. 2nd is that Tursunov makes much too many errors in his matches and against a guy that plays with the pace that Dent does and the pressure he applies with his net play will certainly force Tursunov into making mistakes. Seems a good match to claim some money here. Dent was fatigued during US Open week and it showed, he has since rested and should surely be ready for a good run in this tourney. Tursunov has generally had trouble with top ranked players and Dent might be playing the best tennis of his career right now. Finishing the year up strong and it starts now. Carrying a heavy #4 seed in this tourney Taylor is always a good bet. 22-12 YTD on hardcourt, the guy doesn't bother with the dirt and it's easy to see why. Tursunov 6-8 YTD on hard. The level of players he is beating isn't good. Garcia-Lopez, Calatrava, Karlovic and Burgsmuller aren't household names. He's losing to all seeds he should be losing to, a lot of power games: Nieminen, Ferrero, Gonzalez, Rusedski, Chela and Roddick. I just see Dent winning in this spot, coming back off a couple of weeks rest.
