October 7, Tennis Plays Friday:
Slower day with sports, International soccer tommorow so no soccer bets late this week for me. Now onto the tennis... Dominik Hrbaty -230 over Mark Philippoussis - $46 -> $20 (Metz)
Philippoussis has gone past his prime with tennis but he still posesses that gun of a serve. If he can keep it in he should get deep into sets here. If he doesn't, Hrbaty should roll here. Earlier this year on Philippoussis home continent (Hopman Cup), Hrbaty wins handily 5-7, 2-6 which started him off on a hardcourt season that sees him at 26-13, more than worthy on this surface. Philippoussis on the other hand was 2-8 before this tourney and is now 4-8 on hardcourt, not good for a guy whose game should be very good on this surface. Of those 4 wins, none were noticeable victories: C. Rochus, Behrend, Calleri, etc... He has lost in the last few months to Kucera, Horna and Muller. His game is no longer ATP worthy and his stats in recent years reflect that. Mark was 5-10 last year on the surface. For a guy who is getting older, who useto rely on a lot of net play and his serve. His aging body hasn't been helping him lately. I feel Hrbaty will be motivated as he usually is when he gets out of the first round of these tournies. Very dangerous player.
GL!
