March 14, Tennis Plays Monday: 4* Nicolas Kiefer -140 over Gaston Gaudio
Kiefer is just the superior hardfloor player between these 2 and win here seems logical. Julien Benneteau isn't much of a player but Kiefer seemed very confident disposing of him 6-0, 6-0 without a single threat in the entire match. When Nicolas is confident we see what he's capable of last year, his runs in the RCA, Mercedez Benz Cup and the US Open were very nice. Gaudio has cranked up his game a little this year (he's gaining confidence due to his clay record). Gaudio is 14-2 now this year after his win over a tired Max Mirnyi in the 2nd round. Gaudio is a good baseliner but posesses a small serve, something that isn't likely to help him against a great returner in Kiefer. Nicolas has been OK this season so far and hasn't hit a groove yet, he still remains a threat. Gaudio is a .500 or less hardcourt player in his career, Nicolas is a top hardcourt player, I can't layoff here. Kiefer should give Gaudio trouble all throughout this match.
