Back from Tunica. I hope everyone followed my advice on SEMO last week as they covered at E. Illinois and Murray St. I didn't have access to a computer last week and when I saw the Murray St. line at 17- I liked it so much I called my wife and told her how to access my on-line account to bet the game.
TENN. STATE AT SAMFORD -9-
As I've stated many times before Samford is the hardest team in the conference to prepare for, especially the first time they play. Samford lost their first conference game at home to Jacksonville St. 62-61 and then have won their next six games including home wins against SEMO by 15, and Murray St. by 11.
As a team, Samford is currently ranked among the nation's elite in several statistical categories.
The Bulldogs are sixth in the nation in fewest turnovers per game (11.6) and are eighth in scoring defense. Samford is only allowing a meager 55.8 points per game this season, while Air Force, the national leader, is slightly better at 53.4 points a contest. The Bulldogs are also ranked among the nation's top-20 teams in an additional four statistical listings. Samford is ninth in 3-point field-goal percentage (42.2), 10th in field-goal percentage (50.1), 11th in 3-point field goals per game (9.2) and is the 19th-ranked team in fewest personal fouls per game (15.5).
I don't like laying this many points in what should be a low scoring game but Samford will get their points. I don't believe Tenn. St. will.
