Was an interesting weekend. I could have done a lot better if I had internet available to me all day Saturday. I look back and see all the no plays I had because I didn't have enough information on a team, and kick myself for not being confident with my homework I had already done. Marquette and Texas on Saturday pretty much kept my weekend from being in the red. Not to mention my new favorite team to bet against in Memphis. Michigan, Tenny, and Hofstra each took a shit on me. Each of those teams took a half off. St. Mary's I lost on a hook. It's the 3rd or 4th time this season that I could have had a push at -10 where I lost it at -10.5... Got that in my head now, I'm going to buy that half point just so I don't think I'm jinxing myself.
Sunday was more of the same, lost $200 half/game for Wisconsin, thought they'd come out a lot better than they did against the Gophers. First time all season I played Wisconsin and they haven't covered. I also didn't learn my lesson with MSU... Why I keep taking them to cover on the road I'll never know. Thankfully UNC got me back some of my losses on Sunday. Time to go on a run here down the stretch. MONDAY PLAYS/Thoughts:
-Pittsburgh at West Virginia -3
I'm going to be making a $50 play on this game just for the television entertainment value. Think it will pretty much be a toss up, but I'm leaning towards the points and Pittsburgh. Want to see what some other individuals I trust are on first, because I really don't have a strong opinion. -Florida International at Middle Tennessee State -10.5
Looking through the card I was really looking at a play on MTSU. With it over 10, I still lean towards MTSU, but I won't be playing it. If you do like MTSU though, keep in mind, that they are 9-0 ATS this year when playing teams with a losing record.
-Idaho at Louisiana Tech -19.5 Idaho is one of the worst teams in Division 1. That said I watched Louisiana Tech get blown out at Wisconsin by around 40 points. There's no way I can place a wager on this game at all. I'd lean towards a 1H play on Tech, but it's not worth it to me.
-Oklahoma St. at Oklahoma -8 I think the nunber for this game is set pretty good. Oklahoma has already won at OSU by 6-8 points this year (forget off the top of my head), and I'm pretty confident that they'll be able to cover that number again. I'll wait to hear what some of the Big 12 guys have to say about the game, but I'm assuming I'll be making a $100 play on Oklahoma -8 and $75 on Oklahoma 1H -4
-San Francisco at Gonzaga -17 I've had enough with taking Gonzaga. They kill me no matter what I do. Going to have the mental strength to just say no to this game. Keep in mind that the Zags are just 3-11 ATS in home games this year. In the first meeting Gonzaga won by 9 at San Francisco. I see this game being a Bulldogs win in the 15-20 point range, and I see the halftime number coming right down to the buzzer, as it always seems to happen in their games. -Pepperdine at Santa Clara -9 Santa Clara is just 2-8 ATS in home games this year and Pepperdine won the first game in this matchup by 20 points. So why is the line 9? Well Pepperdine is a very young team this year, and they play a lot less better on the road, losing by an average of 11 a game. Santa Clara has struggled though scoring in conference play, and they especially start slow in the first half. I'll probably be making a Pepperdine half/game play with a bit more on the 1H.
-San Diego -2 at Portland Well San Diego record wise in the much better team than Portland and neither team shows much difference in output regardless of playing at home or on the road. San Diego won the first meeting by 10, and I see no reason they should win by a similar margin again.
-Loyola Marymount at St. Mary's -8 I just can't take St. Mary's at home anymore as they've struggled there against the spread, and I found that out the hard way on Saturday. Marymount won the first meeting by 8, but I'm pretty confidendt that St. Mary's will this game straight up, just don't know about against the spread. I'd lean towards taking the points, but it won't be a play.
-Boise State at Fresno State -6.5 If the line goes much higher I'd be inclined to lay a small play on Boise State as they've gone 6-1 ATS last 3 years against Fresno State. Other than that I don't know much about either team other than Boise won by 3 at home in their first meeting this year.
None of the three ADDED games really do much for me. If anyone wants any thoughts/opinions on those games, let me know. Leans:
Pittsburgh +3
Oklahoma -8
Oklahoma 1H -4
Pepperdine 1H +5
Pepperdine +9
San Diego -2 What does every think about today's card? |
