I've been playing poker for well over 20 years. After reading this post about Cap games I swear I laughed. I never heard anything more ridiculous in my entire life. I am not trying to knock the person who wrote it in anyway or anything. I am just saying the whole idea behind a cap game is utterly stupid and is not no limit poker.

The whole reason for "no limit" poker is just that! There is no limit to what you can bet. Being in a CAP game is like saying "oh I was able to win X amount of dollars but now i wanna only be able to lose a certain amount of it back if i want to chase a hand or such and such" well guess what? You should NOT be at a no limit game then. PERIOD. There is a philosophy behind no limit. It's not a strategy, it's a philosophy. There is a reason why alot of people cannot handle playing No limit poker for "real cash". You can be up 5k 1 minute and down 20k the next. Those are the swings, that's the game. It;s high stakes, high adrenaline and it is the purest most exciting action there is.

To me a Cap game is just another gimmick to get more people to play. It also gets you into a bad poker habit. You start chasing hands you should muck, this turns into habit and when you play "REAL" no limit games you are so used to this habit you flush your bankroll away. I really do get sick of watching how poker is so mainstream now and how 1/2 these people you see on TV who get idolized are horrible poker players. If you want to know about REAL no limit poker for cash don't try to emulate most these people you see on TV, get information from people who been playing that game for many many years. People like Howard Lederer or Amarillo Slim just to name two.
