The NFL fined the Patriots $250,000 and gave the New England coach the maximum fine of a cool $500,000 for his major role in spying on the Jets in Sundays game.
The Patriots will also lose it's first round draft pick next year if they reach the playoffs and their second and third if they do not.
"This episode represents a calculated and deliberate attempt to avoid longstanding rules designed to encourage fair play and promote honest competition on the playing field," Goodell said in a letter to the Patriots.
The 'episode' was the videotaping of the Jets sideline during Sundays game by the Patriots video assistant Matt Estrella.
