| Before we get to picks for today, a word of caution I live by in week 3 of college season...beware of teams making their first road appearence, especially undefeated. Iowa St +13.5 @ Iowa State has dominated spread results in this one, 7-1 over last 8 and has covered on the road last four trips to Iowa City. Combined with questions as to how effective Iowa Qb Drew Tate will be coming back from abdominal strain enough for me to take points and State. Iowa 28 Iowa 20. Syracuse @ Illinois -3 Orange had one hell of a game last week but they're still an awful team. Illinois will be looking to return to game one rushing form when they pounded out 345 yds against E Illinois. Illinois 27 Syracuse 20 Boise St -7 @ Wyoming Coming off impressive 42-14 win over Oregon St Boise is well rested (8 days) and while it is their first road game of the yr I expect they've enough to cover against game but overmatched Cowboys. Wyoming is much improved from last yr's 4-7 team as last week's tilt against Virginia proves but they're still in rebuilding phase and lets not forget they lost last 7 vs spread in '05. Boise St 27 Wyoming 17 Arkansas -5.5 @ Vandy Commodores have hung tough so far this season without Cutler, surprising most with they battled Michigan and Alabama but got a gut feeling the string runs out today. Razorbacks McFadden should have little trouble slicing through Vandy front for his yards and Freshman QB Mitch Mustain has Ark very excited about what the future holds for them. Arkansas 27-Vandy 17 Oklahoma +4.5 @ Oregon Rematch of Holiday Bowl goes Sooners way again. Adrian Peterson simply too much to handle. Oklahoma 21 Oregon 20 back later in day with more as i am off to play some softball good hunting amigos Yr to date 9-3-1

I LOVE this game. Syracuse will not even come close to scoring 20. They will be lucky to get into double digits today. | |

| Adding Texas Tech -1.5 @ TCU Last time these two met Red Raiders laid a 35 pt whoopin' on the Horned Frogs. Texas Tech still has a potent offense and can score in bunchs, and while TCU is an improved team capable of making it a game, Tech should prevail on the arm of Graham Harrell. Tech 42-37 Missouri @ New Mexico +14 Missouri may have found its next Brad Smith in Chase Daniel who was 25-41 253 last week against Mississippi but I'm not prepared to spot them 14 on the road just yet. Lobos won a tough inter state tilt last week over New Mex ST Aggies and I see them keeping it close for the most part before falling short...Missouri 31-20 Colorado St +3.5 @ Nevada After a nine win season in '05 Nevada is finding it tougher to sneak up on opponents so far this year. Last week they were embarrassed 52-21 at Zona St and Colorado St is coming in to Reno on a high from their win in the Rocky mountain showdown. St will need RBs Gartell Johnson and Micheal Myers to earn the tough yards but should prevail...28-24 Navy @ Stanford PK Call me nuts but this week i'm big on Cardinals. Last week's last minute meltdown against San Jose St should serve as a wake up call and if they've any hope of salvaging this season its got to begin with a win tonight. Navy's a soft 2-0 in my opinion with wins over East Carolina and Massachusetts. Must acknowledge that i am bucking the trends here, in that Navy is 6-0 last 3 yrs when the line is 3 or less. Stanford 37-31 Clemson @ Florida St -4.5 Should be a barn burner of a game between daddy Bobby and son Tommy...but it wont be. Closer look at the history of these two shows an interesting trend..with the exception of '99 17-14 Florida St win the margin of this game has not been within 16 pts with Clemson only managing to win at home. Unfortunately for Tigers they are on the road. Florida St finds its running game tonight, 46 yds in 2 games is so off thats its really not worth factoring in to any handicap, and puts a beating on Clemson...35-17

| early returns in...but they're nothing to start planning my retirement on Iowa St +13.5 win....pretty much as i capped with Cyclones losing by 10 Illinois -3.5 loss....Illini seem not to have grasped the fact this is the game where you can't bounce the ball Boise St -7 Push....kissed the sister in law as Cowboys get late TD. Arkansas -5.5 loss...Commodores win praise for another tough loss but a loss is a loss and giving advance warning that Vandy's season is over and morale due to slide big time real soon. They don't give out lollipops in college. Expect some easy lines here soon. Oklahoma +4.5 win...yowser what a game. Sooner had it in the bag with little over 4 to go and lose in the dying seconds. More scoring than i was expecting but both teams did what i felt they had to do to win this one. Peterson ran wild for Sooners with 213 yds and a td while Dixon had an incredible game for Oregon with 357 yds passing 2 tds passing and a rushing td. 2-2-1 on the day so far, lets hope the evening goes alot more to script

| bad weekend....3-6-1 for -3.27 post op on late games Win New Mexico +14 thanks to last second TD Losses Tex Tech -1.5 Red Raiders simply smoothered by TCU D Colorado St +3.5 Nevada impressive, may be team to watch in weeks to come Fla St -4.5 Tide is turning down south as Florida squads all less than impressive this weekend, this yr to be truthful Stanford PK Cardinals are done, put a fork in them...not just that you cant win first game in new stadium but to get destroyed in a PK game like they did... Record to Date 13-9-2 +1.91
