Arrow Betcris Weekly Review 5-22

Detroit finally put the last nail in Cleveland’s coffin on Sunday to win game 7 and move to the next round against Miami. Cleveland nearly pulled a huge upset with Rasheed Wallace coming extremely close to eating humble pie. NBA is really heating up now with the now much anticipated Miami-Detroit series starting Tuesday. Our betting action also reflects this with some huge action wagered on all the series so far. With the Dallas-Spurs and Clippers-Phoenix series tied at 3-3, Detroit is now a short priced +105 to win the NBA Championship.

Tim Herron had to defeat Richard S Johnson from Sweden in a playoff to win the Bank of America Colonial on the PGA Tour this week. Tim Herron was a luxurious 50/1 but yet still didn’t have many betting supporters apart from a few small every-week bettors. Johnson was part of our ‘Field’ price at +175 and still no one took the value of approximately 85 players, so regardless of the playoff victory, it was a good tournament in golf this week for us.

The ‘Da Vinci Code’ opening weekend just completed with approximately 77 million people going through the turn styles. After some negative reviews from the Cannes film critics, we were pounded by our customers betting our Da Vinci propositions. The biggest move we had was the Da Vinci Code vs the Passion opening weekend. The Passion grossed approximately $US83,848,082. Our price started at the Da Vinci Code -350 that it would be more, and +250 that it would be less. After the negative reviews, the bets were rolling in at a huge rate on the No, so the world expected a gross figure of less than the $US83,848,042. We had so many bets that we closed the under or NO verdict at -300! On the bright side, at least we found many new customers and funded their accounts to bet on the NBA finals!

Inter-league sparked some big betting action on the baseball this week, especially the Subway series Yankees vs Mets. All the recent injuries to the Yankees still didn’t dampen the betting on each match of the Subway series, with just over $US1 million wagered on every game. While the week was great for us, parlay bettors had a good week in baseball.

Until next week,

Shane Catford
