Oddsmakers went with Kansas City’s history is establishing the Chiefs as early 4.5-point favorite. That line quickly moved down though as respect for QB Carson Palmer and the Bengals was evident in early betting. One thing not being debated though is the need for the inflated total, which sits at about 46.5.
Both teams have offenses capable of producing big numbers in this game. Cincinnati was easily the most impressive team in the preseason, but now everyone starts playing for keeps. Carson Palmer looked superb against mostly vanilla looks. Still, it’s one thing to play about a half of a game in August, it is quite another to play a full game in a hostile environment like K.C. and thrive. However, the Chiefs have issues of their own with the offensive line and whether or not aging QB Trent Green can continue to be effective. Despite the declining line, Chiefs are still 8-1 ATS as a favorite over the last 2 seasons and the Bengals are just 1-5 ATS at Arrowhead Stadium.
