| With all of the top non-conference games going on, don’t overlook the action in the SEC this weekend, as the results of LSU-Auburn and Florida-Tennessee games could go a long way to deciding this year’s conference championship game participants. All four teams are 2-0, but the Volunteers survived a scare from Air Force last week. They will be about a 4-point home underdog to the Gators for this important contest. They may have been suffering from cases of both letdown and lookahead, as the Air Force game was sandwiched right between the huge season opening upset of Cal, and of course, this week’s big tilt. This game bears some resemblance to the Cal win, in that Tennessee is a home dog against an opponent capable of putting up big points and yardage. However, Phil Fullmer’s orange clad Vols have lost eight straight home SEC games against the spread. Meanwhile, FLORIDA is 8-1 ATS coming off a home win by 17 points or more over the last 3 seasons. In the other heated matchup, Auburn will play as about a 3-1/2 point favorite at home against LSU. This is the battle of the Tigers, and to the winner will likely go the spoils of the SEC West division championship. Both teams are ranked in the top 10 nationally, and both have easily won and covered the spread in their first two games. The series between these two felines has been extremely close, and in fact, the point margins in the last two games have been 1 and 3 points, with the home team winning but not covering the spread in both.
