| Commissioner David Stern addressed the Tim Donaghy situation just moments ago. Donaghy has been accused in the past of trying to run his mailman over and setting fire to his neighbors trash. Clearly anger management problems. Now he is being accused of illegal gambling. The FBI has been investigating Donaghy over the past two seasons. This is part of the FBI investigation of a crime probe in NYC. Facts from Stern. The NBA does not allow officials to gamble or provide information on games. Officials are not allowed to disclose their travel itinerary to anyone but immediate family. The NBA was told of complaints by Donaghy's neighbors in January of 2005. The investigators from the NBA while tending to this matter were told Donaghy was gambling at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City. This was investigated not only in Atlantic City but also Las Vegas. There was no evidence found and he was cleared. On June 20,2007 the FBI called the NBA and told them they were investigating gambling in the NBA. On the next day the FBI told Stern that they were investigating Donaghy for gambling on games he refereed and giving information to persons so they could bet on games. On July 9th Donaghy resigned. The FBI did not want him out until then. The FBI might make two arrests this week in connection with this probe. Stern said there are no other officials involved.
