I'm hoping you guys can help me out with this...

We recently launched a new betting exchange and over the last several months almost all of our efforts have been focused on programming - doing a lot of "behind the scenes" stuff. Now that the site is live and operational, we need to shift gears to marketing and building a user base. We are going to launch a new promotion - probably next week - but there is some debate in our office as to exactly what that promotion should entail.

My question is this: As regular visitors to online gambling establishments, what would you consider to be an enticing promotion? What could a gambling site offer that would make you stand up and take notice? Conversely, what promotions have you seen that you consider to be pointless?

Of course, I understand that the "best" promotion (for players) is the one that gives away a massive amount of money, with few (if any) strings attached, but our business model is one that is built on charging very low commissions. Thinking about this realistically, if everything else were equal, what type of promotion would make you think seriously about trying out a new site?
