I want to here it from the posters here. What would make this site better and what are some of the things you don't like about SCI?

Open for any suggestions or critizism.

It just seems to me whenever something good is started here and it looks like we are on the right track on building a strong community, it just happens that it fades off and people aren't coming back. Is there something I am not understanding?

I know the first thing i look for in a forum is solid cappers to follow. I think that the people here have fairly good records so far. However, when people see other people posting their own records they don't necessarily trust them. For instance, sometimes ha85 posts his record and sometimes he forgets too, this way his record will always on display, and i know eagles makes money in nhl but when he takes -300 favs for 3 units others may not trust his picks. If u keep track then people will trust his picks more readily.

If you could keep track of peoples record in a permanent thread for each sport then lurkers who come on will b able to find the good cappers here and will return for more picks. Then the people who return for more picks will eventually start signing up for contests and whatnot and eventually start posting.

Good Idea dcheng. You want to take care of them duties? LOL. Right now it wouldn't be that much work but as more people start posting thier plays it would become a pretty big task. But I think you are right. I was thinking about starting a moniter forum to keep track of peoples plays everyday but I don't know who would be interested. People were interested in the Call out room and now look at it, no one ever goes in there lol.

Thanks for the suggestion. I might just give the moniter forum a go.

thx for the input dcheng..i agree w you that ppl want to follow solid cappers, but it should be up to the cappers themselves to post and keep track of their records....we have 600 members here and growing it would be impossible for me or big to keep track of everyones record...i think everyone should be able to keep track of their own record and post it w their plays, am i wrong in thinking this?

I think you would be right if we indeed had 600 people posting thier plays, hell even posting at all lol.

I'm not trying to say your record is false but I believe an impartial monitor to grade the picks would add much more cred. to everyone's records.

For instance on Saturday Eagles took toronto -220 as a two star and Washington +170 as a 1 star. TOronto lost and washington won.

Now I don't klnow how Eagle uses his star system but the majority of people would interpret this as -270 or -2.7 units. (-440+170=-270). In his Sunday post, his record still reflects that he is up 46 units even though he was up the same amount on Saturday. Also his +1160 on saturday only changed to +1155 on Sunday.

I think eagles is a fine nhl capper but most people wouldnt trust his record. If a monitor would grade them, more people will trust the record and come to see his plays.

Also, monitoring picks would bring random people to the forum because they don't want to monitor their picks themselves. More people will come in, see the contests, participate in the forums and you'll get more traffic in the site.

If everyone used a unit scale, then there would be no problems.

A unit scale is a favorite is to lay and a dog is to win. Doesnt matter how much your units are worth.

Say you bet 3 games and went 2-1

Washington -120 for 2 units (won) +2 units (doesnt come into effect if you win) it is just 2 units even though you layed 2.4 to win 2

Dallas +130 for 2 units (won) +2.6 Units 1.3 x 2 = 2.6

Cincinatti -150 for 2 units (lost) -3 Units 1.5 x 2 = 3

You won 2* + 2.6* = 4.6*

You lost 3*

4.6* - 3* = +1.6*

So you won +1.6 units on these bets

It is common sense really, you round of the moneylines to units ex. -160 = 1.6

haha chill out eagles...i didnt say your record was false...im sure you bet wutever system you use....i was just using you as an example of why i think adding a monitor portion to the forum would help the forum

Granted the site doesnt have many posters yet but most people who would come across your picks would view them in the manner that I posted above

Come on Ha, no bashing bro! I can take just about everything but bashing. I don't care if its just me, you and Eagles here. His record is indeed for real, I have been following him. I don't know about his units, but his W/L is.

David, I took the Call out room out. Not enough interest. Competitions will have to be in their respective sports forum from now on.
