Monthly/Yearly "POD" Play of the Day Rules

Going with a different twist from last month. Not only will the standings be for the month, but will carry over for the entire year.

There will be the $150 1st place and $50 2nd place monthly prizes still but there will also be a grand prize for the best units for the whole year. I haven't decided what that will be yet, but it will be a huge prize! So don't give up if you are down in the month!

1. A POD thread will be posted everyday and you must post your play of the day in that thread using a unit scale of 1-5 on your play.

2. 1 play a day only in any sport using a spread, moneyline or total. You can use any one pick. No parlays or anything using more than 1 Team/Player.

3. YOU MUST Post your POD with the Sport, Team/Player, Line, Units from 1-5 and the sportsbook you used. No Locals. No Moneylines or plays over -150 and nothing over +400.

(ex.) NBA Lakers -4 (-110) Olympic for 3 units

If you don't post all of the above, the play WILL NOT COUNT!

Please no one complain about different books use different lines. That is part of being a successful bettor and getting the most out of your money. Shopping the best line available. If you don't have more than 1 book, I highly suggest that you do.

I will check up on everyones plays and see the opening line and the current line and if the line posted is way off it will count as a loss.

4. The monthly POD sessions will run every 30 days. At least 23 plays must be made to qualify. That gives everyone 1 full week to miss if they want or can't be around.

The yearly will run till next Febuary. To qualify for the yearly grand prize you must have a minimum of 23 picks in at least 6 months of POD sessions or 240 total POD picks during the year.

5. You must have 30 NON-POD quality posts at the end of the 30 days to qualify for the $150 and $50 monthly sportsbook accounts and 400 NON-POD posts to qualify for the grand prize. This is to prevent the people who contribute here to always be shit out of luck all the time.

6. No editing of posts or posting your play after the game has started. If any of the 2 are done, the play will count as a loss. Just post again if you missed something.

7. 1 entry/IP only. Don't sign up under a different name and post twice. I can see the IP's. Both will be disqualified.

8. The winner with the most units at the end of the 30 day monthly session will be POD Monthly Champion and receive a free $150 account, 2nd place will recieve a $50 betting account at the Sportsbook or Poker Room of your choice on this site that you never played with before. SCI must get the refferal. 3x rollover applies.

The winner with the most units at the end of the year will be SCI POD Champion. Read here for Details.

Will keep standings and units on everyone updated everyday. Most likely put them in the following day POD threads.

The POD's main purpose is to help each other with all of our strongest plays of the day to see who is the hot hands for the month all documented. Also to get a good consensus play if that should arise. To infact see how good the people at SCI actually are with no excuses (you can play any sport) and don't tell me than your strong suit is Parlays

any considerations to limiting the underdog moneylines? seemed like at the end of the month everyone was trying to gain a quick 20 or 30 units (i'm guilty of that too). odds are if 10 people who are clearly out of it make these bets, one or two may get lucky, and take a huge jump in the standings.

Also, if I have a play for 5 units, shouldn't that mean i am risking 5 units? ie if i win a bet at -110 i have won my 5 plus 4.50, and if i win a bet at +200 i have won my 5 +10.

i am just a casual sportsbettor new to your forums, and like your website.

Hey Mossy,

Welcome to SCI. Glad that you like the site.

I was considering limiting the dog, because it was pretty obvious that some were just taking big dogs towards the end and it was getting a little out of character of what this POD idea is about, but I saw some taking +400 and +500 in the middle of last month. Your strongest play could also mean your most value game for the money. I won't penalize someone for hitting a big dog because if that is what they like, then so be it. They are very hard to hit in the first place. The only thing that is changing for this month is no plays over -150 and we will be counting records for the month and for the year.

As for your other question, yes, if you win, you don't lose what you risked, same goes when you place a real bet.

i agree w you mossy...lord knows i fell victim to that last month getting a +1200 play hit against me w 2 days to go, but it was within the rules so im not complaining about it...however we are going to have the same problem, ppl who are behind are just gonna pick +800 and above dogs, they won't even be their POD for real they will just be picking it for shits and giggles and if it hits it hits, but i guess thats part of the contest. BOL to all

Hey guys....Only a suggestion...

After reading through this thread and going back to see what happened at the end of last month's contest I really think you need to make some changes to the rules...

If you don't count the winner or 2nd place finisher (who being a mod) is going to be here anyways....3 of the next top 5 in the standings didn't bother coming back for this month...I would think someone going from near last to first in one day would probably have alot to do with it..

If it were to happen again this month there will probably be very few people left for the following month....You have to have a plus units cap as well otherwise it is no longer a handicapping competition...and defeats the whole purpose of having a POD which should be a help to all by posting your best Play Of that Day.....most forums set the cap at around +200 to +250 and most will not mix Euro and American sports in the same contest.

As the rules are now the only persons that would have a realistic shot at the top would be those betting on mostly soccer...Saw this happen a couple of years ago at another forum...After a year of POD the top four in the standings were all soccer players (myself included)...
One guy won the monthly contest about 5 times himself...
Anyone that remembers the "Odds Talk forum" will remember this.........Quintana...Where are you?

i have something to say about the pod!

since who e ver is grading the standings he is having a hard time

going through all the results for everyone from day 1 to 2 to 3

and i think its best if you make a pick!!

and if it loses or win Just Edit and Say WON!! or LOST

so whoever grades u does not have to go over to check the results

for every single one of us like 50 times!!

what do you think!

the maximum u can take as a dog is +400!!

but my question is if i see a really really great pick that can really win

or at least be close to winning but its over +400 it can be +450 +500 +550!

and i really think i can win!!

can we just post !! but if it winz we dont get credit for +500 +600

we just get credit for only +400!!

i think this is a good thin what do you think ?

no moldo...you cant do that...your pod post can only be a play of max +400...if the line is +500 or +450 or whatever we cannot and wont count it as +400....you can feel free to post that pick in its appropriate forum and tell ppl you like it but you cant post it as a POD

also please note, do not edit your posts! i know most of the time your are editing it to tell me whether your play won or lost, but i dont want anyone editing any posts itll be an automatic L for whatever reason, cant have ppl editing the posts, so if you want to inform me of whether your play wins or loses just post it at the end of the POD thread in a new post, now in your original one, thanks man@!

The SCI member with the most units won at the end of the yearly POD will recieve a $1,000 + $1 added to the pot for every new member starting today!

You must read the regular rules and meet them to qualify.

Also, a New Twist to the POD! Make 10 correct picks in a row at anytime during the year and get a $100 sportsbook account!

* All POD prizes will be Sportsbook or Poker room accounts through SCI from a sponser on this site that you do not have an account with. Before winners are awarded, I will verify that you signed up an account through SCI.

All Free Sportsbook account prizes from this POD contest starting today will be a 3x rollover before a withdrawl can be made from that sportsbook unless their regular deposit rules is more.

No Mold, 1 pick per day. If you forgot to put your odds or anything else you should make another post to put them in. No editing, picking something else or changing odds etc.
