| By Michael Robinson. This is one seed Villanova against four seed Boston College. Villanova has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen with a 13 point win over Monmouth a four point win over Arizona. Villanova relies on guards, Randy Foye and Allan Ray for the large portion of their offense, and they have combined for 85 of their 140 points in the tournament so far. That is over 60% of the total output. The problem is that those two players are shooting less than 40% from the field. With Ray’s eye less than 100%, there is no guarantee that number will improve. Boston College’s two leading scorers during the regular season were Craig Smith and Jared Dudley. They have combined for 90 points in their first two tourney games, 57% of BC’s total output. However, they are shooting over 50% from the field, far greater than Villanova’s deadly duo. Smith is a tremendous inside presence who plays much bigger than his 6’6” height would suggest. Smith is 250 pounds of solid muscle that has come from sculpting his body over his four years playing for the Eagles. Look for BC to pound the ball in low and exploit Villanova’s small, four guard line-up. Bet Now: Boston College (+2.5) over Villanova George Mason is an 11th seed and coming off two upset wins in the tournament. The first was against Michigan State, although the Spartans may be the biggest underachieving team in the entire country. The second was an impressive 65-60 win over three seed North Carolina. In that game, Tony Skinn scored eight points off the bench in 25 minutes after serving a one-game suspension. Look for Skinn’s minutes to increase in this game. The 7th seed Wichita State Shockers have been “shocking” the competition so far this tourney with convincing wins over Seton Hall and Tennessee. The latter of which was a second seed and the class of the SEC conference this year. 6’10” center, Paul Miller has been solid in the middle. The supporting cast, Kyle Wilson, PJ Couisnard, and Sean Ogirri have been the difference makers. Both of these teams have balanced line-ups that get scoring from all five positions, but Wichita State’s size advantage gives them a good chance to pull off the minor upset.
