Kentucky -1 @ Mississippi State – PICK OF THE WEEK!! – I think this line is so low due to the fact that Mississippi State went into Athens and played Georgia close last week. However, State is simply not as good as Kentucky, and I think that Kentucky should handle them easily. Kentucky’s QB, Andre Woodson, is still quietly having a great year. He’s played well in every game this year other than the LSU game, and should have a nice day against State’s defense. He has 15 TDs to just 4 INTs, and I don’t anticipate him slowing down against State’s average defense. I expect this game to be very low-scoring early on but eventually Kentucky will break through and start to roll. I like Kentucky by about 14-17 points here and is easily my top game this week. HUGE WINNER!

Florida – 13.5 vs. Georgia (in Jacksonville) – In continuing with my anti-Georgia campaign, I’m going with Florida to cover 2 touchdowns here. In all honesty, Georgia has shown no signs of improving on their last 5 games which have all been awful. Near losses to Ole Miss, Colorado, Mississippi State, a loss to Vandy, and getting blown out by Tennessee are nothing to get excited about. Georgia is still without their top running back, Thomas Brown as well. I really like this game as far as Xs and Os though. Florida’s only weakness on defense is their secondary, but Georgia can’t throw, and I don’t see how Georgia will be able to score many points. I know it’s a big rivalry game, but Florida OWNS Georgia in this series, and this seems like one that they will roll in. LOSS

Go ahead and buy a half-point to get the line to 13.5 if your book has the line at 14.

Vandy – 9.5 @ Duke – Vandy has been playing teams close all year and even beat Georgia. Duke played Miami close last week, and gave Bama a game in Tuscaloosa. But I think that Vandy is going to roll in this one and win easily. Vandy’s QB has been very good this year, and their RB, Cassen Jackson-Garrison has been impressive as well. While Duke has been competitive a couple times, they have also laid some big eggs and their offense is downright horrible. I really like Vandy to win this game by 17. WINNER

ULM + 37 @ Arkansas – I love the way Arkansas is playing right now, but 37 is just TOO much for me to pick them here. ULM is not good, but I think that Arkansas will simply be on cruise control in this game and the coaches will probably view it as a tune-up to get ready for South Carolina and Tennessee. Other than one game, Arkansas hasn’t shown the ability to put up a ton of points on anyone. They got 38 last week, but were aided by a kickoff return for a TD. With such a large spread, I’m going with the points. WINNER

Tennessee – 4.5 @ South Carolina – Wow, this was a tough one to pick. The game is at night on ESPN and the Gamecock crowd will be rocking. Spurrier owns Fulmer. Tennessee’s strength is passing the ball while South Carolina is 2nd in the league in pass defense. BUT, the talent gap is just too much, and while I think this will be a wild one early on, the Vols will pull away and win by at least 10 in the end. I firmly think that Vols players will want some payback for losing to the Cocks last year. WINNER

Florida International + 36 @ Alabama – Way too big a spread for ANYONE against Alabama. Alabama has only scored more than 36 once this year, and I doubt they’ll be able to cover. I know that FIU is without 18 of their players from the Miami Fight, and they are completely overmatched. Prior to that, they were playing some good teams close however, losing to Maryland just 14-10. I think Bama will win big, but 36 is too many for me. I also think Mike Shula will try to be respectful of the fact that FIU is without 18 guys and won’t try to embarrass them. WINNER

Ole Miss + 19 vs. Auburn – I think the whole world is on Auburn in this game, but I’m going with a gut feeling and a home SEC team getting almost 20 points. Ole Miss has been dreadfully bad most of the time this year, but they’ve also put up a hell of a fight against Alabama (in Tuscaloosa) and Georgia and could have won either game. I do think that Auburn’s Kenny Irons will have a good day, but that means a lot of running the ball, which means not as much scoring and a better chance for Ole Miss to keep it tight. Ole Miss has a pretty solid running game right now with Ben-Jarvus Green-Ellis and QB Brent Schaeffer and Auburn’s run defense has been suspect (see Arkansas game.) Covering this one will be tight, but I think Auburn only wins this game by 10-14 points. Hold off on grabbing this game. The line has been moving in Auburn’s favor all week, and it might reach 20 or even 21 before game time. WINNER
