| OVER 9 PHI (WOLF)/FLA (LEITER) -113 - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific Leiter is a pitcher I will always try bet against, but given Wolf's track record against the Florida hitters (which is very bad), I can't do it in this spot. Instead, I'll take the over, as Leiter will almost always get hit, and Wolf has not proven he can slow down the Florida bats. ARI (HALSEY) -130 over SD (May) - 1 UNIT - 7:05pm Pacific May is not a good matchup in Bank One Ballpark. He is an extreme flyball pitcher, and this park is not kind to pitchers like that. Halsey has been excellent this year and should outpitch May easily. UNDER 8 LA (ALVAREZ)/SF (TOMKO) -102 - 1 UNIT - 7:05pm Pacific BOS (ARROYO) -139 over Tor (Chacin) -1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific It looks like Chacin's April success is starting to wear off, as he's had 3 bad starts in a row. He doesn't have great stuff, so it was probably just a matter of time before things went downhill for him. Boston's lineup should be too much for him to handle. CHW (GARCIA) +102 over LAA (Washburn) - 1 UNIT - 7:05pm Pacific Garcia has had 2 bad outings this year, but has pitched well outside of that. He should be able to handle this Angel lineup, who are near the bottom of the league in scoring and OBP. The Angels will take hacks at anything and can be pretty frustrating to watch. Washburn had to leave his last start early due to soreness in his left (throwing) shoulder, so it's possible he's not at 100% for this game. LENNY STEVENS: 10 star heat baseball kansas city minnesota Jeff Benton comp 2*PHILLY/FLORIDA UNDER Slight Edge sports comp MINNESOTA - MLB vegas experts tip od the day:: TIP OF THE DAY Oakland Athletics at Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Wednesday, May 25, 2005 7:15 P.M. EST EST Clubs played the running game last night, combining for four stolen bases but still couldn't get enough runs to get it over the total. It's risky betting the A's over, especially on the road where they have averaged 3.6 runs/game and have a 3.10 ERA. That has resulted in the A's going under in three straight road games and 15-of-22 overall. Plus the A's are 14-5 UNDER on the road when the total is 8.5 to 10 this season while Tampa Bay has gone 69-46 UNDER after having lost 6 or 7 of their last 8 games over the last 3 seasons. Cicny scored three runs in the first inning last night but then didn't score again until the bottom of the 14th, when reliever Randy Keisler drove in the game-winning run on his first-ever ML hit! The win gave Cincy consecutive wins for the first time since mid-April and guarantees the team a series win after going 0-8-3 in their last 11 series! In Wednesday's afternoon game vs Washington, the Reds get a chance at the sweep vs the Nationals Claudio Vargas. In his first two seasons, Vargas made 68 apprearances (34 starts) going 11-13 4.80. He didn't make his first start TY until 5/11 at Arizona where he went six innings allowing six hits and no ERs. However, in his last two starts, he's lasted just 1.1 innings and 3.2 innings, allowing 13 hits and 11 ERs (an ERA of 19.80!). The Reds have to LOVE those numbers plus they start Aaron Harang, who has pitched very well TY. In nine starts, Harang has an ERA of 3.32. In five home starts, he's been UNBELIEVABLE! In 34.2 innings, he's allowed just 19 hits, has a 1.82 ERA and has a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 32-10! I'm staying with the Reds for the sweep! MLB Getaway Day Game of the Month 10* Reds.
