Chris Young for San Diego has pitched beyond expectations at home this year. He hasn't allowed a run to score at Petco Park in 15 Innings pitched. He will also be looking for his 4th straight win a home. Young last faced St. Louis in Game 3 of the NL Divisional Series Contest, where he pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings in a 3-1 San Diego victory. Opposing hitters are only hitting .212 against Young this year, and St. Louis is struggling in its last ten games against righties(.221 BA)
St. Louis will be starting converted reliever Braden Looper. Looper followed up a 5 run, 5 inning performance against Milwaukee, with 1 run in 6 innings against Houston last Sunday. Opposing hitters are hitting .247 against Looper this year. San Diego is only hitting .235 against righties this year, but should show signs of improvement after rookie 3rd baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff(.115 BA) was benched in favor of Russell Branyan(.278 BA).
