Iowa has compiled a 280-80 (.778) record in Carver-Hawkeye Arena, and a stellar 148-13 (.919) mark in non-Big Ten games. They've also racked up a 45-4 (.918) mark in non-conference home games under Head Coach Steve Alford, but he's not fared well against ranked opponents throughout his stay in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes are pegged by many to win the Big 10 this season, and this is a game they have to have in order for them to be taken seriously this year. They've had plenty of talent over the year's, but this is by far their most experienced and talented squad under Alford's regime. NCST comes in off a nice win in South Bend where they shot unconsciously from beyond the arc connecting on 8 of 16 attempts, while the Irish couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. They're now without their playmaker from the last few year's, and it will be interesting to see who can step up when a big shot is needed most this evening. They won't get it, and I really feel this is a very cheap number the Hawkeye's have to give. plenty of value here as the Hawkeyes have the edge on the glass, are better defensively, are more experienced, and have played the tougher slate of competition. Iowa steps up big tonight and brings another game home for the Big 10!!!
