Monday Plays

$75 Brewers -120
-
The Chicago Cubs have struggled scoring runs at home this year, especially against left handed pitching. They have a .226 average, but that will be helped with the return of Derrek Lee. How much of a help will it be though against a left hander, Chris Capuano, who's making his mark as one of the premier lefties in the league? Both teams have relatively equal bullpens, but I feel the 7th-9th inning relief for the Brewers is a notch above what the Cubs have. The Brewers are 12-22 on the road and Maddux is 13-3, with a 2.19 ERA in his career against the Crew which caused me to decrease my play by $25. I'm going to wait to put this play in until I see what the weather conditions are like in Chicago as it's been pretty nasty here in the Midwest on Sunday. I'm also interested in some feedback on this game and I'm challenging someone to talk me off of this play.

- Most of you's know my feelings on Wandy Rodriguez. I think there is some very good value on Detroit today, but Miner isn't polished enough, and to be honest I don't know enough about him. I'd lean towards the red hot Tigers in this one, but I'll pass.

- Atlanta has struggled in interleague play this season. With Randy Johnson and Tim Hudson on the mound this game could be a 1-0 victory or a 12-8 game after 6 innings. Both pitchers are way too inconsistent this season for me to make a play on them. If I'd look at anything on this game I'd think about taking the under, but that will be a no play as well.

- Florida is another one of those games I'm trying to talk myself off of. There's good value on the Marlins in my opinion when they're a dog, but seeing that they're a favorite it's asking for trouble. Tampa Bay has played well in interleague play. Josh Johnson has been a stud though, and Tampa Bay doesn't play well on travel days. This might be a small add on Florida, what does everyone think?

$75 Cleveland +115
- Cliff Lee has had much better numbers than Jason Marquis and I'm hopping on the St. Louis losing streak. I can see this being one of those games that the public hops all over the Injuns and Vasilios will be on St. Louis and I'll have to tell him he was right... Now that's not something I want to have to do.

$100 Dodgers +100
- Chad Billingsley is going to be the next Francisco Liriano for betters in my opinion. Silva has struggled a bit, but seems to be righting things lately. This game is one of my gut feeling plays more than anything else. I don't really have a lot to say to back this game up. I'm sure some people will point to how Minny's been playing lately as a reason to take them, and I can respect that.

- Jennings has pitched well lately and I like to take Colorado on the road. There's definately some value in this game with them at +150. If I add a play on Colorado, it will be for $50 and I'll probably play Florida as well then. I'm going to wait til tomorrow after reading over some threads from other respected individuals.

- I'm going to be putting a play on the Boston/Philly game for some afternoon action, but I'm not sure what I think yet. I'm leaning heavily towards Wakefield, but with the boppers Philly has, I can see them being able to tee off on the knuckle ball. On another note, I think the total is a bit high based on the pitching of these two players. Either I'm going to take the under in this or the Boston ML/RL, unless I see something in the next 12 hours that gets me to take Philly.

RECAP:
$50 Philly/Boston under (lean) or Boston RL/ML (leans)
$50 Florida -140 (lean)
$50 Colorado +150 (lean)
$75 Brewers -120 (pending)
$75 Cleveland +115
$100 Dodgers +100

Good luck everyone! Hopefully it will be a profitable day for us all...

Just wanted to let everyone know my ass showed some restraint and I didn't put a play on the afternoon game. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do, so instead of being a bonehead like normal, I didn't do anything...

Brewers -125 at Cubs UPDATE
I officially locked in the Brewers now at the listed price. I'm STRONGLY looking at a play on the under 8 in this game as well. Over the last 3 years the Brewers are 2-8 o/u as a road favorite between -125 to -150. Combined the Brewers against righties and the Cubs against lefties are averaging 7.9 runs per game. The home/road splits for Cappy and Maddux equal 6.8 runs... In Cappy's 16 starts this season only 3 of his starts have gone over the total. Maddux has a career ERA of 2.19 against the Brewers in 21 appearances. I'll wait til before game time though as I want to see what the wind/weather is like then. Currently the wind is blowing in from dead center at 10 mph.

Lee back in the lineup for the Cubs plus Maddux has been good vs the Brew Crew at home. BOL tonight Nick!
