Default Bases 9-19-06

MLB
955 Florida Marlins-121@Betroyal

Expect that the Mets will be sitting a lot of the regulars after clinching!

I must say that was a tough one to lose considering that the Mets took the field last night with a lineup that looked decidedly like something from spring training. No Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado, Jose Reyes nor David Wright. Not a single starter, in fact, from the team that clinched the NL East title the previous day,and it had six guys hitting under .210.Even though Glavine pitched a gem of a game I believe what screwed us in this one was the fact that even after Olsen shut down the Mets on five hits for seven innings and left with a 2-1 lead,Marlins manager Joe Girardi was limited in his relief options. Closer Joe Borowski jammed his right elbow Monday night when he slipped off a bullpen bench----BAD TIMING---!!!

But New York rallied in the eighth against Chris Resop (1-2) on a single by Anderson Hernandez, a walk to Endy Chavez and Milledge's tying single.

After an intentional walk loaded the bases, Tucker greeted Matt Herges with a go-ahead single.
