| I just made a medium sized wager on the Phillies to win Over 88½ -110 This may just be a homer play, but they won 85 games last year and got off to a seriously slow start. I also feel they have a much better and more experienced team heading into the 2007 season. Their pitching rotation is much better 1 through 5 then it was last year, no doubt about it. Brett Myers supposably has his head straight this year from what I understand, if so he can be a very good pitcher and definitely more consistent than last year. I could easily see him being the ace. Cole Hamels is still young and maturing, but he definitely has the nastiest stuff on the Phillies pitching staff, he showed that last year in stretches. If he can pitch good out of the gate and stay out of an injury, he could possibly be the Phils best pitcher this year and possibly in the top 10 in the NL. Freddy Garcia is a workhorse and inning killer. He may not have that nasty fastball of years past, but he is still a good pitcher and probably one of the best 3's in all of the National League right now. He's also coming from the AL, where it was alot harder to pitch IMO. I see his numbers improving from last year, mostly because of the move to the NL from AL. I think the Phils 1-2-3 punch is the best in the NL East and if they all stay healthy, could pick up alot of wins. Phillies also lead the league in runs scored las year if I remember correctly. Rollins, Victorinio, Utely, Howard, Burrell, Helms, Rowand and Barajas/Ruiz is the Phillies projected starting lineup. If Rollins, Utely and Howard all have similiar years and Burrell picks it up then I could see a potent offense to go along with there pitching. The only weak part of the Phils going into the season "as is" is thier bullpen. But they still have some trade bait with Lieber and Rowand if they want to solify it or could wait to see if anyone emerges into a solid 2 or 3 inning middle guy. As long as the starters go deep and stay in through 6 innings most of the time, then I don't see this as a big problem. Bring on the Baseball season!!! BOL, Tommy |

| You are a Homer, but there is nothing wrong with that. I am a Homer also and the Phillies are looking good on paper so far. Hope you win your bet, hope the Phillies compete this year. Expect to see them make an early run and continue as the season progresses. Could go all the way! Good Luck!

| I like the play as well. Mets will be down this year. No Pedro the first half. I took the Phils to win the NL East as well. IS |
