have been pretty solid at mlb over the past few years and look for that to continue this season, i will post my plays 1-3 units, in the rare case i see an absolute gem ill have a 5 units play but mostly everything will be 1-3 units...lets start the yr off with a bang!

1 unit ATL even at phillies...simply put...pitching mismatch here...ill take smoltz at even money over myers any day of the week...in a battle of what will be for 2nd place in the nl east, the braves and phillies both can score runs, but the difference is in the pitching....smoltz outclasses myers imo and the braves pen is better then phillies, gimme atl here

2 units CUBS -110 at cincy...again, even tho this is on the road, zambrano is simply better than harang, many have zambrano slated to possibly win nl cy young and we are getting him at basically a pick em...chicago should be able to back him w enough runs, the addition of soriano will be a major boost as well as getting a healthy derrick lee back in the lineup...cincy is no pushover, they are a very capable and scrappy tram, griffeys move to RF should only help his offensive numbers, assuming he stays healthy, but just think the cubs have too much pitching and too much offense in this one.

1 unit BOS -155 at kc....boston may not be as good as in years past, but anytime schilling of matsusaka is on the mound you have to look at them as a possible play...kc is very very young, and while -155 is a lot on the road, i believe schilling is that kind of pitcher against a kc team that warrants that price....meche is kc's big offseason acquisition, will he live up to the money he was given, i think he is a decent pitcher but will struggle w the sox lineup today....papi, manny, drew is a pretty solid middle of the order

1 unit seattle -108 vs oakland...should be a close game, going w the home team at about even odds....seattle made a few moves under the radar in picking up jose guillen and jose vidro which should help their offense in a nice fashion..ichiro is always ichiro and will hit about 330 and always be on base, hopefully the m's can get production from beltre and sexson equal to what they expected when they signed both of those men and with the jose's in the lineup i like their makeup and king felix can flat out deal out there on the mound...oakland may not have the big names, they lost frank thomas in the offseason, picked up mike piazza but they always have that knack to hang around..a little surpriseed at haren making the opening day start as i thought harden would be their opening day starter but that just helps the m's here i believe as i think hernandez will outduel haren in a low scoring game.

thats it for the early birds, also considered the over 10 in the yanks game, i belive pavano will give up around 4 runs at least and the yanks should get theirs off kazmir and the shaky tb pen...
