i go back to the late fifties as a kid from the poor area of jc nj, my father took me to see the ny giants at the polo grounds we sat in the bleachers some 460 ft away in dead center an the tickets were 75cts.my dad loved the giants an willie mays so naturally i was hooked too.he was a site to behold-a pete rose but with much more power an the greatest fielder i ever saw.when the jints moved to sf were devastated but kept on rooting but it waned an finally started rootin for those mets short for metropolitans.MAYS PLAYED 18 YEARS in sf as a right hand hitter an it was tough to pull the ball against those winds blowin in in the afternoon.mays had to hit most of his hrs to right.unreal.aaron hit most of his in a bandbox in atlanta.but in my opinion mickey mantle, (an i hated the yankees,)was the best -he just had terrible legs.( osteomyletis) he was the greatest swich hitter ever an more power then anyone who ever swung a bat.an they took no steroids.just my opinion.sosa n bonds( both liarsn cheats) dont deserve that much credit.mcguire new this an got out early.he is now in hiding from the cards organization.

i agree matt-we tend to favor the players in our time.steroids have definitely tainted the sport.i know when i was youg we hit fly balls using fungo bats-bats with rubber ball in end of bat to increase power an distance,thats what sosa did.but i still luv baseball.mcovey was the real deal too -he hit sum unreal balls.
