| WORLD SERIES 2011 10/29/2011 SCORES-SCHEDULE-TV-STARTING PITCHERS Game 7 10/28/2011 Texas at St. Louis Three days rest for the Cardinal starter Chris Carpenter, he is their man and even though there were two other starters, Kyle Lohse and Edwin Jackson both well rested, manager Tony LaRussa said it all "He's our guy". The visiting Rangers chose Matt Harrison to start game seven and the stage was set. There could be no repeat of game six, some say the most exciting and best game in World Series history. So would this game be a let down? With everything on the table I doubt it. Texas did not wait around to get the ball rolling. In the top of the first they scored twice on two doubles, one from Josh Hamilton and the next from Michael Young after a single by Ian Kinsler and walk by Elvis Andrus. Score 2-0 Texas. St. Louis came right back and after two walks, game six hero David Freese nailed a double to center to tie the score 2-2, end of the first. Texas could not score in the second or third but St. Louis added a run in the bottom of the third off a solo shot home run from Allen Craig. That made the score 3-2 Cardinals in the lead at the end of three. Carpenter held the Rangers in check in the fourth and fifth keeping the score 3-2 Cardinals. St. Louis added a run in the bottom of the fifth with a bases loaded walk and another when Rafael Frucal was hit by a pitch to force in the second run of the inning and give the Cardinals a 5-2 lead. Two runs scored without a hit! In the seventh inning Chris Carpenter was relieved by Arthur Rhodes. Chris went six innings allowing two runs on six hits, two walks and five K's. He left with a 5-2 lead. Texas came up empty in the top of the seventh but the Cardinals were able to add to their lead in their half with a single by Moilna to drive in Lance Berkman and make the score 6-2. Holding strong, the Cardinal relievers shut down the Rangers in the eighth and ninth. Final 6-2 St. Louis wins. Chris Carpenter gets the win. Matt Harrison the loss. St. Louis Cardinals, 2011 World Series Champions! Their 11th World Series title in franchise history. David Freese won the 2011 World Series MVP. Show me the money! Tickets for game seven were expensive to say the least. Stub Hub was selling standing- room-only tickets ranging from $485 to $5000 and $515 to $17,500 for seats. Well for Phillies fans like me there is always next year and congratulations to the Cardinals.
