| 10-08 Week 5 NFL Picks Best Pick Record = 6-3 Strong Pick Record = 3-5 Regular Pick Record = 3-6 ------------------------------- Oakland @ San Francisco Best Bet = OVER 39.5 points Both of these teams so far have not played good defense. Alex Smith is putting up big numbers for a second year starter, and should'nt have trouble against a lousy and banged up Raiders defense. Oakland is way overdue to have a good offensive outing. I see Moss having 2 TD's in this one as well. ---------------------------------------------- Cleveland @ Carolina Best Bet = OVER 37.5 I can see Carolina possibly covering this all on their own against the Browns. Cleveland has two starting DB's out, and will get torn apart by Steve Smith and Keyshawn Johnson. ---------------------------------------------- Cleveland @ Carolina Best Bet = Carolina -8 The Panthers have yet to cover the spread this year, quite possibly why this line only -10. Carolina is going to light it up against a banged up Cleveland defense, and defensively will contain the Browns offense, who might be without Kevin Winslow, who has a injured knee and missed some practice on Friday. ---------------------------------------------- N.Y. Jets @ Jacksonville Best Bet = Jacksonville -6.5 The Jets are probably the most improved team of the year so far, but I don't see them putting up much of a fight against one of the most physchical teams in the NFL. The Jaguars are gonna run all over the Jets who are not having much success gaurding against it. ---------------------------------------------- Kansas City @ Arizona Strong Pick = Kansas City -3 Kansas City spanked the 49ers last week 41-00, and look to carry that momentum right into Arizona on Sunday. Kansas City is one of those teams that needed a few games to get going and will beat teams like Arizona. Rookie stud QB Matt Leinart is also making his first pro start in this contest. As history shows, no rookie QB steps in and is great (ok,except for Marino) right off the bat. Kansas City's offense will beat out Arizona's in this one. ---------------------------------------------- Kansas City @ Arizona Strong Pick = OVER 39.5 points The Chiefs put up 41 points last week. Arizona has a great offense that is way overdue to perform. Leinart is making his first start so this worries me a bit being a rookie and all. I don't see him getting a victory, but I can see him throwing for 240+ yards with 2 TD's, and K.C. covering the rest in this one. ---------------------------------------------- Oakland @ San Francisco Strong Pick = San Francisco -3 I'll take any team -3 against Oakland, and that includes the 49ers. Oakland is a bad team, period. Although San Fran is coming off a horrible outing against the Chiefs, I look for them to come out in front of the home crowd and show them that it was just a bad week. ---------------------------------------------- Dallas @ Philadelphia Regular Pick = Dallas + 2 Just like everyone else, I'd like nothing else but to see T.O. get beat up against the Eagles in this one. Although that may still happen, I still see Dallas coming away with the victory in this one. With Donte Stallworth and Westbrook both likely to be out in this one, I just don't see where the offense is going to come from the Eagles. I know they did it last week but that was against the Packers, who are argueably the worst defensive team in the league. I just see Dallas coming out victorious in this one, and T.O. going out in a Brinks truck to keep away from 60,000 angry fans. Should be a fun one to watch. ---------------------------------------------- Buffalo @ Chicago Regular Pick = Chicago -10 Chicago's defense is just plain dominant. The Bills are a surprisingly good team so far, but they're winning with defense, and you need to atleast score to win and I don't see them doing much of that in this one. The Bears offense has been clicking on all cylinders and should have some success at moving the ball. ---------------------------------------------- Detroit @ Minnesota Regular Pick = UNDER 41.5 points Minnesota has yet to give up 20 points, they also have yet to score 20 points. Detriot has been scoring (but still losing) in their last two games, but that was against G.B. and the Rams defenses. I see both teams trying to keep it on the ground in this one, resulting in a 20-13 type of game. ---------------------------------------------- |
