Default Who Cares about Power Rankings?

I never really liked all these power rankings. If you follow the sport then you pretty much know who is good and who is bad. These lists are a waste of time IMO, at least for me. What is your opinion?

I agree that Power Rankings mean nothing...

Power Ratings
are a good way to start out one's handicapping...then you have to factor in/out injuries/suspensions/road-weary/letdown during prior games that made up some of the rating numbers.

I like Sports Reporter and Pointwise Power ratings

Eh. I enjoy reading them every now and then, but overall they are pointless.

I have NEVER looked at POWER Rankings, I'd prefer Strenght of Schedule (SOS) To me that is a better gauge of a team and what they have done against those scheduled teams.

for instance if you have:

Team A and they have a SOS of 101/ with a record of 4-8

and

Team B has a SOS of 97/ with a record of 8-4

then I am all over Team B, just because they are very close on the SOS, but, their records tell the tale.

I will also, say that I do not just use SOS to cap football.
