Da Bears vs. The Cheeseheads Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears
As a weird Sunday unfolded in the NFL yesterday the Bears and their fans got not one but three early Christmas presents. Almost everything the Bears needed to happen yesterday wound up taking place and the Bears are still in the playoff race, giving tonight's game alot of meaning. The Bears watched Dallas lose on Saturday which helped their playoff chances a bit but then on Sunday they needed Minnesota to lose at home to keep their division hopes alive. That happened and their slim Wild Card hopes well they would have been eliminated if Tampa Bay or Philly win, both lost and all 4 teams were favored!! So that brings us to tonight. Green Bay comes in tonight after a disappointing season of their own. The Cheeseheads are just playing out the string , but that string includes a 37-3 drubbing of these Bears a few weeks ago. The Bears have played well since their loss in Minnesota ,and seem to have gotten their defense back on track after the loss of Dusty Devoracek looked to hurt them badly. For information on injuries, trends and weather call a free recording 1-888-850-8211. Devoracek was the leading tackler on the line and the run game was killing the Bears. They beat New Orleans last Thursday and 11 day layoff will help their cause. A key stat for trend fans is teams coming off home Thursday night win and playing at home the following week are 14-6-1 against the number. The Bears have found a new stich to their offense as well testing corners deep with Devin Hester who drew 2 huge pass interference penalties the last game while still controlling the clock at will with Matt Forte. Forte was quiet last week as Orton tested a weak Saints secondary. Tonight they will face the Green Bay duo at corner so will have to establish the run to have any success. Chicago will be extremely cold tonight and although you can say it will be Chicago weather, even Green Bay isn't familiar with this type of cold. The forcast calls for unreal low's tonight. I think the stars were aligned for the Bears to make a playoff run last night and they won't throw away the opportunity they have been handed. The defense plays better tonight and Forte and the run game gets it going early and often. I am not impressed with Green Bay's defense or the Pack on the road as they have only two road wins this year, at Seattle and at Detroit. Add to that the Bears have put up 20 or more points in every home game this year except at the then #1 defense of Tennessee with a backup QB. Give me the revenge team looking for a playoff birth at home in frigid conditions and let's take DA BEARS !!! |
