Ricky & Dolphins Struggle to Run Wed Aug 10, 2005
The Sun Sentinel reports Dolphins RB Ricky Williams looked rusty running against the Bears Monday night in the Hall of Fame Game. Williams gained just 8 yards on five carries against a Bears defense that focused on the run while daring the Dolphins to throw. The Miami Herald adds Dolphins HC Nick Saban said part of the problem with the blocking for the running game Monday night was the frequent use of eight-man fronts and blitzes by Chicago. The tactics by the Bears were somewhat odd for an exhibition game, but not something that couldn't have been handled with normal preparation. Saban said that recent shuffling in the line may have contributed to the poor running game (41 yards on 22 carries) and sacks of QB A.J. Feeley and QB Gus Frerotte. He also hinted at more changes if the unit didn't improve. C Seth McKinney said after the game that he was told that he would start the game at Jacksonville after C Rex Hadnot started against the Bears. Saban said no final decision had been made. |
