Pennington's Health Uncertain Wed Aug 10, 2005
New York Newsday reports Jets QB Chad Pennington (shoulder surgery), who will be held out of Friday night's preseason opener, admitted that if they had decided this week to let him play, he's not sure he would be able to perform. "I'd have to see how it feels [that day]," said Pennington, who normally lobbies for more snaps but readily consented to this benching. The health of Pennington's throwing shoulder remains uncertain, and Tuesday's announcment that Pennington would be sidelined for Friday's game caused speculation, if not outright concern. Pennington had surgery to repair a torn right rotator cuff in February. He's been nursing his arm throughout this training camp, alternating workouts and taking several days off. Tuesday he did not throw in the morning practice but participated in the afternoon. |
