Steelers Injury Update Wed Aug 10, 2005
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Steelers Pro Bowl LB Joey Porter (hyperextended knee) and CB Deshea Townsend (Achilles' tendon) were injured in practice Tuesday and didn't return. HC Bill Cowher said he didn't think either injury was serious. He said it was too early to determine if they will be ready to play in Monday night's preseason opener against Philadelphia at Heinz Field. "We'll play it on the safe side," Cowher said. "I can't make that determination at this point. It's too early to tell. Neither [injury] is that serious, but I have to see how they feel [today] when they wake up." Cowher said CB Ike Taylor probably will replace Townsend at right cornerback. WR Lee Mays (hamstring) was in uniform Tuesday but didn't participate in team drills. DE Travis Kirschke (back) didn't practice Tuesday either. Cowher said he didn't believe either player will practice today. |
