Default Den / Hou Game

PICKED THIS OFF ANOTHER SITE , DON'T KNOW HOW TRUTHFUL IT IS BUT I DID BET UNDER 37 IN THIS GAME PREVIOUSLY. MY TAKE WAS THERE WILL BE ALOT OFF RUNNING IN THIS GAME BY BOTH SIDES.

Houston is sold out for tomorrow's game against Denver from what I've heard. The comment that Capers made when picking up Buchanon from the Raiders was that it was time to "unleash hell" with two young shutdown corners. This means lots and lots of chances for Babin, Peek, Greenwood, and Wong to pick up lots of sacks this season, something the Texans' D-Line has never produced in their short history. Don't be surprised to see Houston call blitzes on over half of the plays on defense this week, and even more as the season goes on ("Blitzburgh" Steelers-esque)

hmmm very interesting...i can definately see denver running a lot tonight as they have sooo many RBs, and need to see where each of them is at, im curious to see what clarett has, weather he is in shape and what kind of football skills he still has after being away from so long...

guys maurice clarett may not be a part of the organization for very long.this is from one of my key informational sources:

As it turns out, T.O. isn't the only guy who might be faking a groin injury.

A league source says that Broncos rookie running back Maurice Clarett's groin injury is, in reality, a response by Clarett to the fact that he was stuck at the bottom of the depth chart at tailback.

Mo-Clo's reasoning (tortured as it may be) is that he can't earn the incentives in that stoopid no-bonus contract if he isn't getting touches on Sundays, and that he can't get touches on Sundays in September and beyond if he isn't getting reps with the ones in training camp and preseason.

So his grand plan, per the source, is to cajole the team into cutting him, in the hopes that he'll end up somewhere else . . . as the starter.

If Clarett were to be released, he'd first pass through waivers, giving every team a crack at picking up the rights to his current contract. So in order to get paid beyond his $230,000 salary, he'd have to get to the top of the depth chart in his new town.

But that presumes he'll even get out of Denver. As our own Len Lasagna reported on Thursday, the Broncos eventually will put Clarett on injured reserve, squirreling him away for the 2005 season.

Whether that means Clarett gets a chance to win the starting gig in 2006 remains to be seen. We're hearing that Clarett is even more turdish in camp than the run-of-the-mill Bronco turd-jobs, and our guess is that the team eventually will tire of his routine.

When they do, of course, they'll be acknowledging that Coach Teflon's propensity for finding diamonds in the dregs of the draft had temporarily gone on hiatus when they handed in the card at the last pick in round three with Clarett's name on it.

something i go from an avid Broncos fan

QB rotation to be Plummer, BVP, Mauck, Kanell
Basically, shanny & Co. are saying they already KNOW what Kanell is capable of...thus the demotion to 4th. They are eager to see what BVP can do and to a lesser extent, Mauck. I'll take our true #2 mopping up against Texans camp fodder.

RB: Despite everyone wanting to see Bell nut up and grab the starting role....it hasn't happened. Mike Anderson is the favorite to start the year out at #1. Reports out of camp have him playing quite well..hungry at 32 off of an injury plagued year. He doesn't have the big-play capability of Bell though.

After those 2 you have Q-Griff who is plenty familiar with the system having been a former starter (who owns a +200yd reg season game) ...and Dayne. I was really down on that off-season pick-up but preliminary reports have Dayne playing well in the Donx system.

I get the impression that while shanny wants a hard look at BVP and Mauck....he is more interested in seeing how they run the offense than letting them air it out. The true competition is at RB
Solid battle for 1-2...and 3-4. Figure to see lots of the ground game.

Nothing much to talk about regarding the WR's....ASH, Rod, Watts are 1-3...with the 4 being Rice's to lose. After that it's your typical cast of NFL euro youngsters trying to hang on for 5th. Should be plenty of wrong routes and dropped balls after the 1st 3 hit the showers.

Shanny also took alot of heat for his defensive dealings as well. (Browncos)...plus drafting secondary with first 3 picks. I think they have something like 15 D'lineman in camp and the competition has been fierce. Doubt Champ sees the field tomorrow...but the youngsters have looked good.

Linebacker never a worry with this team.

The defense has been owning the O in camp. Can never figure out if I should be happy about that or not d:-) Leans me to the under at any rate.

I watched most of the highlights from yesterday's scrimmage between these two. Denver owned the full squad drills and 7 on 7.

Spec teams....Denver's punt team looked like sh!t. Tex blocked 3 and tipped another 1 or 2. The good news is....when Sauerkraut actually gets one off....they fly. They drafted a kid named Ernster who can kick the sh!t out of the ball as well. He might see some punts but they are mostly trying to see if they should carry 3 kickers. Ernster as a KO specialist to keep Sauer's leg fresh on punts. The kid had a KO that went thru the uprights....in the thick Houston air.

Expecting lots of running for the donx....long fields for the homies...and your typical mistake and flag filled 1st nflx game for both squads.

13-10 somebody.

Will check in with my thoughts on HOU tomorrow.

Got the info on Houston?

The line dropped to 1, which shows me the Broncs are getting the action here so far.

great stuff about denver, this is a team very deep at RB...itll be interesting to see who emerges, i can't see all of these guys making the roster....bell and griffin have the breakaway ability that anderson and dayne don't, but griffin had fumble trouble last yr, and bell hasnt stood out in camp....also clarett figures in there somewhere possibly, although word is he is faking an injury and trying to get cut...
