Lions | Garcia Might Start Next Game - No Controversy Included

Tom Kowalski, of mlive.com, reports Detroit Lions QB Jeff Garcia could start the team's next preseason game. The move has nothing to do with QB Joey Harrington's performance last Friday, Aug. 12, but has everything to do with preseason strategy. Head coach Steve Mariucci wants Garcia to get some playing time with the No. 1 offense. "We wanted to get Jeff in with the (starters) but it just didn't work this game,'' said Mariucci, who gave the first two drives to Harrington and the first unit. "They had 21 snaps already and I wasn't going to extend their play time.''

yeah i wouldnt be surprised to see garcia start....they say there is no qb controversy in det, and harrington did perform well against the jets, but they have said all along they want jeff to get some reps..curious to see how he does w the first teamers...
