Default Smaller Goalie Pads?

I just saw something on my local news that their is going to be a smaller goalie pads rule. If so, how will it affect scoring if at all?

yeah the nhl knows it will prob lose some fans due to the non-season last yr, plus the game is boring, lets face it...too many penalties, not enough scoring...they want to open the game up...i think they need to do the same in soccer...they need a no offsides rule!

Yep, the equipment will all be regulated now. The league isn't to impressed where it's going. Guys like Robert Esche and Roberto Luongo expand beyond the size of the posts when they're in there

2 line passes are allowed now also... they need to open the game up, let the offensive players be offensive. Fans go for fast paced hockey, not slow motions clutch and grab your man. I like it all so far and think Bettman is doing a good job.

They also have a 'test' net in place which is more oval shaped. The bar extends up on back of the goalie in the middle of the net and bends on the 2 sides as well. Not sure on the stats of this is but it's a freaky looking cage. If ever put in place I imagine we'll see more of those 7-5, 8-6 games again

yeah faster paced open ended action is what the game needs, especially with the nhl being full of the european players, all the holding and grabbing doesn't allow them to show their skill at their fullest, hopefully these changes improve the game
